People willing to help! content
I'd like to be listed as one of your "helpful people". I haven't gone out of Australia as yet, but it's just a matter of time! My latest trip was a round-Australia-in-2-months effort. I've got a reasonably well-equipped workshop, and can provide accommodation for a few days if needed. My phone # is 042 990 7329 (mobile). Mail za2...@optusnet.com.au
Thanks Ben!
Tiberio can help travellers passing through Colombia with information and more.
"The Political situation in our Country is quite difficult to explain, but for any traveller planing to visit Colombia I will recommend to check with me direct or via Medellin Horizons Unlimited Travellers Community before they arrive. I will try to do my best to investigate what is happening on the roads they may be visiting. Mail tibe...@cablespeed.com
TIP:
Right now we (local motorcycle riders) get on the bike early in the morning, 5:30am and ride until 4pm only, NEVER AT NIGHT."
NOTE: Tiberio is currently in Seattle, USA, but you can contact him and he will be happy to put you in touch with the right people. Also contact the Colombian Communities here. Thanks Tiberio!
"I live in the city of Kashiwa, about 30 km northeast of central Tokyo. Those who are arriving at Narita will find it most convenient to take a bus. I don't have a big set of tools. I can provide a place to stay for a couple of days, meal, tea and/or coffee, hot shower and bath, and conversation. I may be able to do some negotiations for travellers with Japanese companies or shops too. Mail jyos...@kdt.biglobe.ne.jp . NOTE: Because of my job requirements, I need plenty of notice." Thanks Junji!
"If any motorcycle travelers are stranded or in need of help while visiting our part of the world, feel free to give me call, I may be able to assist. I've been riding bikes for many years and know what a pain in the arse it is to need help and not know where to start looking, especially in a foreign country. I have a couple of bikes myself and have always done my own repairs, I worked as a bike mechanic for ten years, so I have a fair idea of how to adapt things and find a way around most mechanical problems. At present I run my own used machinery yard, so I have more tools than you can point a stick at and plenty of storage space. If any one needed to crate a bike I can use my forklift to load it onto transport. We live about five minutes from the airport and at the very most, twenty minutes from most major bike shops. Hope you never get stranded, but if you do give me a call, or just drop by for a chat with a fellow motor cyclist. Joe"
"I just finished riding my TransAlp from Texas to the Atlantic, across to the Pacific and then back to Texas. I would have loved to have had a list of people I could have called upon if I had been in need.
I am happy to provide any information a visitor might need about Texas and the Dallas area. They are welcome to come to my office and check or send email, faxes etc. I have a small garage with tools if they need to work on their bikes. I will do whatever I can to help. Of course I am also very happy to drink tea and shoot the breeze with whoever wants to say 'Hi' if they are passing through.
