Bruce Smart is a serving police officer and in October 2012 he is setting off to ride a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 sports bike, 100,000 miles around the world, through over 66 countries to raise £1M for his four selected charities. They are The Royal British Legion, the Born Free Foundation, The Children’s Trust, and the St Christopher’s Hospice. He’s fulfilling a promise and embarking on an epic journey. Follow the build up to his incredible journey (and eventually the trip itself) here.
Between 5th October 2010 and 7th March 2011 Rob and Sarah drove 31,925 kilometres (21,300 miles), took some 7500 photographs, travelled through 18 countries from England through Eastern Africa right down to Agulhas Point, the southern most point of the African Continent. They met many fascinating people, saw endless breathtaking scenes and befriended the most unlikely of animals.
The two greenturkeys and their trusty steed, Rodders, set off in February 2011 on an overland mission of epic proportions – across Europe, through the Middle East and down through Africa – we will be rockin’ like Moroccans through more than twenty-nine countries and across three continents, climbing and adventuring along the way.
An expedition circumnavigating Africa for a year. A life long dream for teacher who is trying to help educate Africa by providing specially designed Solar powered Laptops to rural communities. She will be driving country to country to meet the shipments of the laptops and help train the teachers how to teach with them. Follow her online to see how her adventure pans out...
Leaving behind the woman he loves and the Social Enterprise they started together aspiring photographer and passionate traveller, Eddie Perry, is following a crazy dream. Inspired by his previous epic journey across 11 countries over 662days, he now plans to travel across South America on a Suzuki 125. This blog is set to be a roller coaster of highs and lows as he gets to grips with long distance motorbike travel and being away from the love of his life. Follow the journey and help support a Social Enterprise while you do - Viva South America.
As usually happens over a beer or two, four friends decided to go to Timbuktu and back by motorbike. With less than a year to the departure date this is our website telling you who we are, what bikes we are using, what kit we are taking, the route, who is sponsoring us and most importantly who we are raising money for.
On 26 February 2010 I will be heading from Australia to South Africa for the beginning of a Trans-Africa motorcycle trip. The plan is to start from South Africa and head up the east coast of Africa eventually ending up in Egypt. I expect that the trip will take about 4 months, span over 16000km’s and will cross through at least ten African countries (South Africa / Mozambique / Zimbabwe / Malawi / Tanzania / Kenya / Uganda / Ethiopia / Sudan / Egypt). The majority of my trip will be solo, but two of my university mates (Andrew "Bonky" King and Richard "Cobbles" Kolbe) will be joining me for the first part of the trip.
Together with AMEC Minproc, I will also be taking this opportunity to raise funds for charity. The charity that I have selected is a charity called "Riders for Health" which is organization that provides health-workers with motorbikes and medicines to ensure that millions of people in the remote areas of Africa receive regular, reliable health care, often for the first time in their lives. The result – 10.8 million people are now accessing vital health care in Africa. AMEC Minproc have very kindly offered to match any donations that I manage to raise. So please dig deep for this great cause!
