"G'day travelling bikers. I am a lifelong (almost 50 year old) biker, living in the Strzlecki Ranges about 2.5 hours east of Melbourne. My wife and I live 'out in the bush' on 75 acres surrounded by hills & trees, about 30kms to the nearest town, and 10kms to the nearest bitumen. Our neighbours are roos, wallabies and wombats. We can offer long distance travellers our hospitality if you fancy day or two to kick back & relax. In return we would love to hear your travel tales.
In 2000 I rode 14,000kms around part of Oz. See //www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/lock/"

"I can help with directions, suggestions for good rides, referals to quality mechanics and bike shops that won't put the screws to you, and general information. I have some basic tools, but I doubt you'd want to inflict my mechanical skills on your motorcycle. Use my phone, stop to chat, but not a lot of room for folks who need lodging.

"Phone, 1-709-681-2349. Location, south side of Bay of Islands due west of Corner Brook at N 49°03'59" W 58°17'21". It's 28 km west of the intersection of route 450 and Petries St. in Curling (the intersection is shown as Curling on the provincial map). Curling is 15 km from the route 450 exit off route 1 eastbound. I'm retired and usually home. I have a truck and ramp trailer for cripples and a fairly well equipped shop including welding and machining and most of the necessary tools. You are welcome to camp on the property for a few days or use my serviced travel trailer and can shower and wash your clothes. Internet is available but slow. There's always beer and I have topo maps for all of the island and Labrador. For the woods I use a KLR650 and an ST1300 for long distance touring."

"If any motorcycle travelers are stranded or in need of help while visiting our part of the world, feel free to give me call, I may be able to assist. I've been riding bikes for many years and know what a pain in the arse it is to need help and not know where to start looking, especially in a foreign country. I have a couple of bikes myself and have always done my own repairs, I worked as a bike mechanic for ten years, so I have a fair idea of how to adapt things and find a way around most mechanical problems. At present I run my own used machinery yard, so I have more tools than you can point a stick at and plenty of storage space. If any one needed to crate a bike I can use my forklift to load it onto transport. We live about five minutes from the airport and at the very most, twenty minutes from most major bike shops. Hope you never get stranded, but if you do give me a call, or just drop by for a chat with a fellow motor cyclist. Joe"

"I just finished riding my TransAlp from Texas to the Atlantic, across to the Pacific and then back to Texas. I would have loved to have had a list of people I could have called upon if I had been in need.
I am happy to provide any information a visitor might need about Texas and the Dallas area. They are welcome to come to my office and check or send email, faxes etc. I have a small garage with tools if they need to work on their bikes. I will do whatever I can to help. Of course I am also very happy to drink tea and shoot the breeze with whoever wants to say 'Hi' if they are passing through.
