I found myself cold, windswept and out in the middle of nowhere, Nevada but the sunset glowing ochre and violet, allowed me confirmation of why I was motorcycling solo on yet another back road journey.

"The Short Bikers Mailing List was originally started by a small group of people who were about five foot high and were frustrated at trying to find suitable beginners' motorcycles... Although we are no longer just made up of beginners, ... we don't limit the mailing list to any particular shape, size or skill level of people and we have members all over the world!" At 5' 3 and 118 pounds Carol feels quite comfortable aboard a BMW R1150 GS with its 31.5 inch seat height and its nearly 600 pounds. And... she feels equally comfortable picking it up if it is dropped! "Want to learn the technique? Don't miss the videos at the bottom of the page!"

Easy if you're six foot six (2 metres) and big, but for the smaller folk, it's really tough - and even the bigger of us have trouble with a fully loaded tourer. This is a great explanation of how to do it right.
