Amazing motorcycle adventures in Southern Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Malawi)
Pat has ridden 100,000 miles around the world and four times across Africa, always 2-up with his wife Ness (they married on the road after a proposal in Timbuktu). Having visited 100+ countries this site has some extraordinary photos, tips on bike modifications for the big trip, a kit list, route outlines and information about his recently published book 'BEARBACK, The world overland' endorsed by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
The site also details their setting up of a Land Rover 110 Defender TD5 in South Africa in which they undertook a 35,000 km safari through the whole of southern Africa.
Follow Tania and Francois Steyn on their three month journey from Cape to Cairo on two 200cc Motomia Chinese bikes. Everyone believes Chinese bikes are crap, read this to see how the bikes did on this 15 000 km journey through Africa...
Have you ever dreamed of buying a car and doing a self drive safari through Africa? Do you feel the need for a grand adventure or the opportunity to truly experience Africa "in the flesh"? Each of us has our own unique vision for our African experience and our own special requirements for our "trip of a lifetime". So if you want to do something special, if you want to do something on your own, then where do you start? Start here at the Africa 4x4 Cafe.
I think there are 2 types of people who do this gig, biker nuts who want to go travelling, and travelling nuts who want to go biking. To be fair I'm being harsh, Dave is mostly piss taking and Marc is just being careful. A small blot on what has already been a mental trip, and its only just started.
Although Uganda is not a well known tourist destination, we have it all here: The river Nile and the Great Lakes, mountain ranges and volcanoes, a pleasant climate all year round, and a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered mountain gorillas.
And you can visit all this by motorcycle, on a guided tour or on your own!
Uganda Bike Safaris offers you a standard tour to the most famous attractions, but we can also design a tailor-made safari just for YOUR interests. Tanzania, Rwanda or D.R. Congo can also be included in the trip.
We love bikes and Uganda, and we would love to share our experiences with you.
