Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

The best option if you want the fine detail is to read our attached blog post. But were we to do this exact shippment knowing what we do now, the only thing that we would change is having a customs broker arranged in Mexico before hand. We were unaware this was a requirement until we were in Veracruz trying to recieve our bike. This cost us a few extra days, and at that point we were itching to get back on the road. Also we had learned first hand how long shipping by sea can take. The original ETA was 38 days, and it turned into almost 3 months. Have lots of time to spare.

The customs broker we used in Veracruz was Enrique Reyes Hidalgo y Asociados S.C. Emparan 74, Veracruz Centro, 91700 Veracruz, Ver., Mexico Phone: +52 229 931 4067 (He also spoke English which was very helpful).

Daniel

This was a return shipment of my BMW GS with panniers and a 40l roll bag.

Total cost was about GBP2200 return including pick up from northern Scotland and delivery to an address in Auckland (and vice versa)  The base cost was GBP1600.  Total included port fees, TIP, freighting insurance, WOF and rego, plus there was a small fee for road insurance (about GBP65 IIRC) arranged by myself.

Everything went very smoothly and I would highly recommend this company.  The bikes are transported in purpose made metal cradles with space for lugage on top.

Ground shipping in the UK was handled by 2wheeltrans. http://2wheeltrans.co.uk/

Approx GBP2200

I had  a great experience  with Kathy, It replied very fast and accurately even if a motorbike is not woth a lot of money for their kind of business.

In the end I was able to use a usad crate for my motorbike and transport it to the port by myself. shaving the price down a little bit more.

defenatly the cheaper offer I got for that route, with less that 1000dollars I got. shipment till LA, a 1 month storage in Tokyo, clearance of the carnet, other required fees.

Flawless, only surprise was an additional fee at the end of the process regarding the storage, but I understand that it was a complicated request that anyway were able to fullfill.

Cindy in the US part (they are 2 different companies) was clear and fast, the fee was almost the same amount they asked in the beginning and include, all the paperworks, transport from port to warehouse, and storage for 1 day.

I am on a round the world tour with my motorbike (Triumph Tiger 800 XCa), since 1st of may 2017. When i reached Kathamndu, i decided to move the bike by air cargo to perth (because to skip the new crazy Thailand DLT regulations). Just beside my Hotel (Pilgrims Guest House, www.pilgrimsguesthouse.com) i found DAS, in person the very helpfull, friendly and professional Mr. Naresh Das. He organized all very quick for the cargo flight, including creating a wooden box and packaging at the Air Cargo Buildung at Kathmandu Airport. I was so glad, not to have much paperwork (very easy), all was done by Mr. Das. The costs are less than $2000, all including up to Perth airport. Perparing the bike (as example removing the front wheel) was done by myself (very easy). All my lagguage (helmet, boxes, and so) we put also in the same box.
