Shipments done by Travellers
The HU Shipping Database!
From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.
For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.
If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:
Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.
Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!
NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.
Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

I used Manitoulin to ship two R1200's from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. We created the bikes and delivered to the Manitoulin depot in Calgary. The creates weighed just under 1000lbs each (we shipped our gear with the bikes and the creates were darn heavy).
Delivery took maybe 3 days at most (trucks leave daily for Whitehorse).
Manitoulin were awesome!, no issues at all.
If you can ship them under a company name you'll save approx 50%!
Shipment: From Bremerhaven, Germany to Halifax, Canada - June, 2014

Absolutely recommended. IMPORTANT: no agent needed in Halifax. You can do everything yourself.
Travel time two weeks. Additional bike transport insurance available via WWL on request.
After the vessel left Bremerhaven i received from the Halifax office an invoice for freight + local harbour fees along with the "Notice of Arrival".
Try to pay freight fees for Halifax in advance. As soon as you get the relevant invoice from Wallenius in Hallifax (email) contact yout WWL agent in Bremerhaven and ask to pay these fees in Germany already.I could arrange that for myself, it was easier to pay all in Germany rather than doing money transfers via canadian post (freight + harbour fees can't be paid cash nor with credit card!!).
Once local fees for handling in Halifax are paid, take the "Notice of Arrival" and go the customs office. It is located in 1557 Hollis Street, Halifax. Enter through the main entrance and turn immediately to your left. Present the notice of Arrival, passport and proof of ownership (usually your national registration document will do) to the charming officers (i was lucky: two very helpful ladies behind the counter ;-) ) . If the quarantine check was already done (custom officer will let you know if not) it won't take more than 5 minutes until everything is done (they make a copy of your passport, proof of ownership and notice of arrival).
With the Notice of Arrival stamped by customs take the Woodside ferry (5 minutes walk to the ferry terminal), get off at Woodside and take the bus no 60 towards "Eastern Passage". Get off at Autoport (name of the company at 1180 Main Road), just ask the driver, he will drop you off as soon as you see the huge parking lot filled with new cars. Taxi can be taken, too, but it's much more expensive. If everything runs smoothly (as it did for me) you will not pay more than a single bus ticket (2.50 CAD, don't forget to ask the bus driver for the transit ticket when you enter the bus at your start point).
Show the papers to the friendly lady at the Autoport reception desk. She will do some work on it and soon after your bike will be delivered in front of the office entrance. Shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes. I spent most of the time waiting for the bus or ferry....
That's it. Have fun!

BTW: low on budget? I stayed at the Saint Mary's University (in the Loyola Residence). Can be booked over many web portals or via www.stayoncampuscanada.com , offers simple rooms with shared shower / bath room and a really good breakfast in the morning for about 45 CAD! Other universities offer similar things, see website.

Roosevelt and Luis were great to work with; both speak excellent English which made my life much easier. Roosevelt, Marquinho & I crated the motorcycle at their office then Roosevelt and Luis took care of all the customs paperwork and getting the crate to Aeromexico and onto the plane. They also provided the online tracking info. They made it very easy and excellent customer service!
