Shipments done by Travellers
The HU Shipping Database!
From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.
For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.
If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:
Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.
Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!
NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.
Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.
Shipment: From Auckland, New Zealand to Frankfurt, Germany - May, 2014
Level 1, 47 Richard Pearse Drive | PO Box 53122 | Auckland International Airport
Shipment: From Bremerhaven, Germany to Halifax, Canada - May, 2014
Used this company before and this time more than excellent.
1 asked a quote on the website
2 look on the website for a convienient date for your shipment and book it.
3 Got by email all the details what to do and when
4 Paid 1050 euro via banktransfer and got in return a referencenumber
5 bring the bike to the gate and hand over the referencenumber.
6 you get an entrancepass wich you allow to go trough the gate and wait on the inside for someone to bring you to the parking spot and give that man the papers you got together with the entrancepass.
When you parked your bike you get one copy of the papers back and another pass wich you allow to get trough the gate on your way out.
That's all. The advice wasto take away the licenceplate because some souvenirhunters like them, but I rivetted the plate. No change to take off.
On Halifax side get a moneyorder from the postoffice for the amount you have to pay to the agent (165 Can $) because it is not allowed to take cash.
With the paid stamp on you paper go to customs, Get a stamp over there when you bike is cleared. Go to the harbour and collect the bike.
We stayed in Dartmouth oceanview hotel on walking discance of the ferry.
When you disembark the ferry on Halifax side, 4 min walking disdance to the right, Theres is the agents office.
From agentsoffice to customs 10 min walk .
All very close, thats why we took Halifax for a second time to start a trip.
All together 1050 euro oceanpassage and harbourdues Bremerhaven site and 165 can $ on Canadian side.
We travelled with carnet, not necessary for canada and us but use it for a folling trip through SE Asia. When you do not have this, 100 euro is added to clear the bike from Bremerhavensite

Crating is not incl. I used a crate from BMW. The wheight of the crated bike + gear 377 kg, the value is 455 kg so they charged me for value. Themporary import permit in Korea 160$. Carnet was useful but doesn't work in Korea no stamps. Hope it helps.
Shipment: From Sydney, Australia to Dubai, UAE - May, 2014
Tel: 1300 799 362
Contacted Paul from talkcargo. He replied to emails the same day every time. I was slow deciding where to start my trip and Paul was great and getting me different quotes for any country I considered. He also offers tips for getting the volume down to save money. Awesome guy to deal with. Can't recommend his services enough.
Dropped the bike off in Sydney and the guys took care of all the packing. Riding gear, panniers and tank bag stayed with the bike. Paul provided the shipping bill and i used this to get the Carnet stamped out by Australian customs. I flew to Jordan for a week and the bike followed ten days later and on time.
Bike arrived to freight gate 5 with dnata cargo. It's on the airport freezone side of the airport. It's also next door to customs and easy going back and forth for paperwork. The shipping company and customs are open 24 hours.
Costs in Australia
AUD 2600 - included a couple of hundred for the dangerous goods certificate which you could do yourself but I didn't have time.
Costs in UAE to clear the bike.
AUD 255
Customs fee AED 110 (AUD 32)
Dnata handling fee AED 211 (AUD 62)
Shipping agent fee AED 250 (AUD 73). - I didn't know for about half a day that I was using an agent. They organised the bill of lading.
Insurance for 14 days with RTA AED 300 (AUD 88) - Best to do prior to going to get the bike. Just need rego papers and there are RTAs in a lot of places around Dubai.

Very friendly and helpfull, we could pack the crates at their yard.
Had to remove battery and get a certificate that the tanks were purged of all fuel and cleaned, which cost us 100 $ per bike.
Got the crates from BMW in Auckland for free!
